A little on Disney dining....

Last post on Disney, I promise! We did the Disney dining plan....so many choices but we chose the one that had 1 snack, 1 quick service meal and 1 sit down meal per person (except for #4 she was able to eat off of our plates.) And to be honest that was a lot of food but we were able to spread it over 5 nights and 5 days pretty nicely. I did plan early and got it to some fun table service dinners. We ate at the Coral Reef (Epcot), Ohana (Polynesian resort), Akershus Royal Banquet Hall (Epcot), Cinderella and Prince Charming Dinner at 1900 Park Fare (Grand Floridian resort), and Chef Mickey (Contemporary Resort) At each of those restaurants the chef met with us to discuss the menu for Little Man's allergies. Sometimes at the buffets they would take us up to the food to show us what was acceptable for his peanut, tree nut (including coconut and nutmeg) and dairy allergies. They adjusted menu items. They created special breads and desserts for him. The chefs often brought it to ...

snow day crafting

We had a few snow days this week and this mom needed to come up with something quick! VALENTINES DAY BOXES!! The oldest and I scoured Pinterest for some designs for our boxes. If you know #1 she likes her themes/monochromatic/type a order in life so she thought since her cards were owls and she had an owl shirt {that she could wear on her party day}then her box should be an owl. All would be right on the world! Child 2 is a little more go with the flow so she was cool with sling hers an owl. But she made it her own...a little like her personality. Of course #1 hoards shoe boxes for this project so we had plenty of sizes to choose from.  A few paper bags from Kroger's and some scrounging  in my scrapping paper and we had our BEST boxes to date!

library time

I've tried to keep the kids going to the library regularly this summer. Yesterday, after another rainy day we snuck out between raindrops to return some books and get a few new ones. The kids couldn't wait to get back home and dig into their new finds.

happy birthday #2

It is a whirlwind 3 weeks of birthdays at my house. I can't believe she's 5 now! I love this ball of crazy energy. Love you pooh bear!

nap vs no nap

Okay here's my mom dilema do I let #2 still take a nap or do we try to cut it out. I send her to her room for quiet time and she falls asleep. BUT she then isn't a great at night fall asleeper. She sings and talks and BUGS her sister. And to boot she has 2 volume settings: ON HIGH and OFF. If I let her skip her nap or she just plain refuses the evening and even the next day are a bit like every scary-someone's-head-is-spinning-around scene. She's more of the sleep in type of girl. Which is all kinds of interesting since her sister is an extreme morning person (6:30 at the latest) and she's more of a night person (still sleeping and its almost 8 but stayed up until 9) OH the dilema! SIGH! I know she'll be going to K soon and will naturally reduce the need.  Although its morning K so our quiet afternoons may just lull her into a nap or two. I just don't know what to do in the mean time. Kill the nap and deal with the girl from a Stephen King novel or g...

the last days

We've made it through another school year. Preschool and 2 nd grade! I can't  believe how challenging this year was, but we came out the other side smiling. Love my big girls! What am I going to do next year when I have one in 3rd grade, 1 in kindergarten and 1 in preschool? YIKES! #4 is going to have a lot of mommy time!!! Psalm 136:23 " To Him Who [earnestly] remembered us in our low estate  and  imprinted us [on His heart], for His mercy  and  loving-kindness endure forever"
