Father of the year award goes to....

So this is one of my hubs favorite songs...why?don't ask questions ...who knows? {me shaking head}. Well tonight at dinner {and frankly quite often} he was playing it. Child #1 and 2 often join in and sing the chorus {fire fire fire} but tonight people, little man joined in during the chorus. My 16 month old now was singing this song and causing his dad's chest to swell with pride.

Just a few notes

We have now entered the note giving stage in my kindergartners life. Before when she was angry or upset we would just see pictures taped to her door with sad or teary eyed faces. But she knows how to sound out words now.... Here's what went down. She was REAL excited to see the stockings hung at the fireplace. She decided to start drawing pictures as her gifts to everyone and put it in their stocking. But she's dangling off the edge of the couch to lean over then splat a stocking comes down and the ceramic holder breaks into a few pieces. She and her dad have a few words. {For the record I didn't hear any yelling-but she is a sensitive soul} She's devastated and runs to her room. After a few minutes I go to check on her and she is sobbing. He has hurt her feelings (I think she used the word HATE). I tell her to go and talk to him, instead she comes down with this note and picture.... {He yelled and me mad Dad my feelings got hurt because} They had a discussion and apol...

Happy Thanksgiving

The kids helped decorate "new house" mimi and papa's tree on Thanksgiving. Little man mostly just threw the ornaments at the tree from a good safe distance! I had the kids make "Turkey" headbands for thanksgiving, but we forgot to wear them to dinner. Little man nibbled some of his fingers off and #1 felt bad so she drew a face on his. What am I thankful for this year? My family!

Thanksgiving #1

HAPPY THANKSGIVING! {Congrats Uncle Bobo and Aunt Lindsey} {PS Child #1 is going to be a flower girl and she is super excited!} So over the weekend we had thanksgiving at my parents. Part 2 coming on Thursday at the in-laws. It was great. We were able to visit with my brother and his fiance, my sister, my brother in law and their kids as well as with Big Papa and Grandma Norma and Ken. Here are some pics from the weekend. {Dad is saying cheese, but it looks like he's smelling sticky feet} {Great grandparents, grandparents and grandchildren= pure love} DING DING DING: quiz time! How many Bills are in this picture? How many Jean's/Gene's? How many Marie's? A little funny from Pooh Bear...about 30 min before dinner we found her sitting quietly in her booster seat at the table with her hand folded waiting to eat. If you know her 1. She rarely sits still/quietly and 2. She's always hungry. Oh gotta love this girl! A cute story from Monkey Jean...her "Weekend Repor...

Maxwell house where are you?

Not real happy about this people. My coffee pot has decided it has seen better days and refuses to make COFFEE. If you've been reading my blog very long you will understand that this is lifeblood to me. YES MAMA NEEDS HER COFFEE. I am on the search for a coffeemaker that will last longer than 3 years. Wish me luck getting through this week!

Gentle persuasion

OK so this year I am serving as a leader at CBS. Which I am loving. Every month my lovely group of ladies has a brunch. Well this month, I kinda told a few of them what to bring, selfishly. I have had certain dishes {I've had in the past} that I liked and thought it would be great if they brought them. Thus Laura brought my favorite dish {per my persuasion, er, I mean gentle request} baked oatmeal . I forgot to take a picture of it when I made it for my kids {who also loved it} but here's the lowdown. 3 eggs (beaten) 5 cups of old fashion oatmeal 1 cup of oil or applesauce 2 cups of milk (I use soy) 1 cup of brown sugar 3 tsp of cinnamon 2 tsp of vanilla 1 1/2 tsp salt 4 tsp of baking soda Mix all together and pour into a grease pan (9x13). Bake at 350 for 25 min (glass) or 30 min (metal). Serve with fresh or frozen fruit. I have also put dried fruit or blueberries into the mix. *Makes A LOT so in can be cut in half using a smaller brownie pan *Can be refrigerated and eaten all...

Lock her up and throw away the key

It is kindergarten people, kindergarten ! In the recent weeks child #1 has gotten a note from a boy with the words "I {heart} you" and another boy just gave her a purple hair bow he found {gag} because she is his friend. Really, she's 5. We are going to have to lock this one up and throw away the key. Can't wait until she's 16 people and we have boys calling her...NRA anyone? I am glad she is friendly and sweet to these kids. And in my biased opinion she is adorable. Whoa boy its going to be a long ride! Oh and just in case G's mom is reading this she also has a #2 groom picked out just in case G, her #1, doesn't work out. And she refers to them as #1 and #2 in convo not just mom code here! On other wedding notes, her uncle Bobo is getting married and her direct quote was, "Finally, I have been waiting for this the whole live long year!" "Mom, I wonder who they are going to choose (pointing at herself)?" Choose for what? "You know...

vacation with the hubs

Yes I went on vacation with just my hubs and no kids for 3 nights. My WONDERFUL in laws (ahem just in case they are reading). We went to San Antonio TX. Why~well its WARM. We had 80 degree weather and where we from it was 40 degrees when we came back. We had a wonderful time. We went with our friend Mark and Kristin. They are officially our vacation partners in crime. 5 and going strong. {Mark and Mark hanging out in the "saloon"} {Kris and I at the Buckhorn Saloon & Museum-look at those elephant tusks} We also met up with my high school friend, Shirley, whom I've not seen in 15 years. We went to a wonderful restaurant, Cappy's. We had lots of good food. Including a place called Mi Tierra. Loved, loved, loved not feeding or changing anyone. This is a great city. We got a steal of a deal on a hotel. Our friend's' view was the Alamo. We could get to the river walk or the Alamo from our hotel. In fact the river ran through our hotel. Cool huh! It was quite...

Oh pooh bear

So just a little quickie... I walk up to Pooh bears room during nap time since she was making an awful load of ruckus. I walk into her room to see her wearing nothing but her socks-on her hands. She had taken off all her clothes and pull up and was just sitting there with her socks on her hands! I came in and she said "I ankey buns" which is her of telling me she was completely naked! You just have to laugh to keep from going crazy! Dear Lord grant me patience and a sense of humor with this child!

Trick or Treat

Happy Halloween from the Cheerio Gang aka Dinosaur, butterfly and Cinderella!

Candy theif

So recently we've had a lot of candy out because of the potty training. USUALLY #2 does her business on the potty and #1 gives her some candy. We have a system....now lets look at what happened when the system broke down. SIGH I sent child #2 out of the bathroom while I cleaned up and then went back to cooking dinner. She was to take the candy cup (with the lid on) to child #1 and get her ONE piece. Well that didn't' exactly happen. I realized after just a minute or so of complete silence that #2 was MIA. I asked her sister where she was and she told me that she never came with the candy. We found her in her favorite hiding spot-behind the green chair. Which is currently pushed up against the wall. So its a nice cozy dark spot. I found her covered in candy juice-multicolored juice. It was gross. She musta eaten 12 skittles and 6 candy corn. She had wiped it in her hair, her face was completely covered, her jamies her white feathered chicken baby, the floor, and the bac...
