Babylon

We are currently studying Daniel at our Bible study. Its been great really digging our teeth into all those "children's stories." Recently our Teaching Director said,  "you may be in Babylon but you don't have to be of Babylon." It's taken me a couple of weeks to really get a hold of what that means. But God made it clear, very clear. I have that one thing I keep taking back from God. I so badly want to be a part of Babylon and God lovingly says no you will not be a part of this. It could not have been more clear. Within 12 hours of me agreeing to be apart of Babylon, the door was firmly closed. Shut, barred, locked, glued. CLOSED! He tells me I can't be an effective witness when knee deep in Babylon type activities. He wants me set apart. He wants me to be in Babylon but not of Babylon. Okay I get it....for now. I am sure that God will have to remind again.

cheerio gang: 2 pink thumbs up

We went to see Pinkalicious the Musical over the weekend. The hubs and I had bought tickets as part of the big girls Christmas presents. They have been waiting for quite some time now. The girls thought it was pink-tastic! It was 1 hour of singing about pink. It was a great big girls night out. We had wonderful seats on the floor. Well who can complain in the local theater that's 2 minutes from my home and easy peasy parking.  I then decided to take the girls out for dinner and dessert. They voted on some Noodles & Co for dinner and Spoon Me for dessert. All within 5 minutes from my house.  Join up this week and be apart of the cheerio gang!

cheerio gang: debbie

Ever have those people in your life that you are proud to know. Or someone who truly cares about you or your children. Debbie and I have only known each other for a short time, but she has spent more time pouring into my life and the life of my kids than people I have known for decades. She snuggles and cares for my kids. She loves on them and spoils them. Sometimes they call her Miss Debbie, but often they just call her crazy Debbie. They make pictures for her. Its a good relationship. She and I work closely in a ministry called CBS. She's the coordinator and I am the assistant. We joke that we share a brain. She's the more friendlier part of the brain, for sure. That's her gift and that's what everyone loves about her. Recently, she had surgery on her back. I told my kids about it and they were eager to pray for her that morning. It was a good opportunity to teach them about thinking about others and bringing our requests to God. Requests that weren't about...

when on the mountain

I recently gave a devotion at CBS. I titled it "when there is fog on the mountain, slow down and be alert" I found that sign when I was driving through the VA mountains last summer. It really stuck with me. Over the last few months God led me to several verses. I will hope that when you are in the fog of life that you can refer to these verses. WHO  IS GOD? Psalm 46:10, Psalm 119:105, Psalm 59:16, Psalm 62:6, Proverbs 18:10, Exodus 2:14   WHAT DOES HE PROMISE? Psalm 73:26, Psalm 27:11, 2 Thessalonians 3:16, Psalm 62:1, Isaiah 55:8   WHAT AM I TO DO DURING THE FOG? Psalm 136:1, Ephesians 6:18, Colossians 3:2, Colossians 4:2, Psalm 63:1, Deuteronomy 6:5, Nehemiah 9:5b

I had teased my sister that we were going animal print and hot pink. We really had decided on soft pink and butterflies. Mom and Lindsey did a beautiful job decorating and the party was great! So happy for my sister!

pure joy

"It's not that my standards are too high, it's just that my daddy set an amazing example for how you should treat me."   This is a quote I recently read on Pintrest. I thought how perfect to showcase the Father Daughter Dance. Someday I pray that when our girls are looking for husbands that they use their dad as a measuring stick. Having the opportunity to go out to a dance is setting the stage. Our dance studio sponsored the dance at our church once again. Both older girls got to be daddy's date this year. Fancy hair and fancy dresses and perfect time with our daddy. The joy on their faces was priceless. The joy in my heart is with out words. love priceless dancing with our friend, "Bert" daddy dancing with one in his arms and one on his side....amazing! Join us this week celebrating the Cheerio gang!

1 Peter 3:15

Over the last several months I have had the opportunity to share about the Bible study I attend and about Jesus. I find it funny that  God would use me ...and the simple task of depositing the Bible study offering. Twice I was able to speak (over the intercom of the drive thru) with the teller ladies. Telling them about what we are studying and just some simple things about what God is doing. Even when they tell me at the end of our 10 minute conversation that they are Jewish. I laughed. They initiated the conversation. They asked the questions. I was just the instrument of God at the moment. The other time recently I was scared. I didn't want the responsibility. BUT God wouldn't let me get away with that excuse.  I think I found talking to the teller ladies easier because they weren't family. I may not ever see them again. But this time it was family. I hope and pray that my words were soft and gentle and without judgement. I hope my words were not my own but full of H...
