Living Life One Cheerio at a Time

Today is the 10th and the challenge is finding beauty in the ordinary for 10 hours. Well I always like to make up a few of my own rules and so I added a few more pictures. I love to be creative but I have some limitations. I CAN'T SEW! Its not that my mom didn't try and teach me  but alas that is a skill I am without. I can sew a mean button or a hole on a bear shut but that's where it ends people. In fact I have a whole board on Pintrest that says "If I knew how to sew." I found these little/no sew tulle tutus that I thought would BE PERFECT for our Disney trip. I thought it might be fun for the girls to dress up a little when we go to our character dinners. I went googled many options. So the baby and set out to JoAnn's and found the supplies. So for less than $10 per tutu they've got a special skirt to wear long after the Disney trip. I did one with the ribbon and the others with the elastic. I actually liked the elastic better. I had to sew (by hand) the piece together but the whole skirt didn't take me more than 30 minutes to do. To begin I cut the tulle into 24 inch strips. I bought about 50 yds per skirt....

We had a few snow days this week and this mom needed to come up with something quick! VALENTINES DAY BOXES!! The oldest and I scoured Pinterest for some designs for our boxes. If you know #1 she likes her themes/monochromatic/type a order in life so she thought since her cards were owls and she had an owl shirt {that she could wear on her party day}then her box should be an owl. All would be right on the world! Child 2 is a little more go with the flow so she was cool with sling hers an owl. But she made it her own...a little like her personality. Of course #1 hoards shoe boxes for this project so we had plenty of sizes to choose from.  A few paper bags from Kroger's and some scrounging  in my scrapping paper and we had our BEST boxes to date!

The hubs and I are planning a Disney trip for the kids. We are super excited. I thought it would be nice to have a few Disney themed outfits for our first trip. I found the kids some Mickey shirts for $4.00 on clearance at Meijer. STEAL! I then scoured the internet for some crafty ideas and that's when I found  the  freezer paper stencil idea. Now you can google freezer paper stencil and get A LOT of tutorials/videos/blogs. Here's what I did just in case you don't feel like weeding through the plethora of tutorials. I went braved took my own life into my hands and went to Wal-mart to find some CHEAP t-shirts. I got everyone a $3 shirt. I found black metallic fabric paint (Tulip brand),some sponge brushes, and freezer paper. I decided on the design I wanted and went with the simple Mickey silhouette and printed it from my computer. I decided on some different sizes for all the kids. The websites suggested using exacto knives but that would not probably be a safe ...

I have felt the need after 6 years in this house to add a little pizzazz. I decided to add a little Early magic to the house. Here are a few items I've been working on this month. I know some of the art isn't perfect. But creating is cathartic for me. It relaxes me. I really need to do more than maybe my letters wouldn't be a little crooked. its a large 30 x 40 canvas...just need the hubs to hang it for me its not perfect but its personal & I love it modge podge and some paper that has some of the wall color in it...fun kitchen art!

I forgot to show you...I know shame on me!  I had on the hub's to do list to hang some towel holders for the 4 kids. I decided I would like to put vinyl letters over each of the hooks. And what do you know complete cuteness! Yes, the lettering is crooked and all wonky. I did it on purpose so that I wouldn't have to worry about being perfect.  It's a good philosophy for my life...wonky is okay!

Ikea table we've had for years. Its colored all over and just needed a sprucing up! Matching chairs I {heart} modge podge I had some old maps and just tore them at their creases and  modged podged them  to the seats and the table top!

I had an itch to do some crafting. As you know I like to plan out our meals a week ahead of time, but recently I've been frustrated with the process.  I decided to  make a dry erase board to post our menu....accountability and organization! So I found a old frame that was painted navy blue and had a "teachery" poem {from my teaching days} placed inside it.
