Just a little bit on our trip....

It was a great trip. Busy, crazy crowded. The kids loved all the rides and all the characters. We sure did see a lot of characters. Traveling Jesus came with us but only made appearances in the car. We went to Epcot, Hollywood studios, and magic kingdom. I had thought we would go to animal kingdom but the kids didn't want to and wanted to go back to magic kingdom.   It was a few long days and the baby would fall over and nap for an hour or so in the middle of the park. We stayed at a Disney resort, but as the value of value resorts the bus wait and ride would often take over an hour. Not always the most practical to run back and forth.  So needless to say they slept well when we finally got them to bed...way past their normal bedtime!

Disney trip...the planning stages

This is just a small glimpse what my dining room looks like one week before our big trip. PURE CRAZY! I have scoured and scoured over all the best Disney vacation blogs to figure out what I need to bring. Now I am not a control freak on most things. MOST THINGS. Vacations are another story. I have documents saved from previous BEACH vacations. Grocery lists, packing lists, lists on lists on lists...but because this vacation was going to be a bit different my lists were not going to be helpful. We usually stay in a home and do a lot of cooking and this trip we are staying on Disney property and using the meal plan. First of all I decided to use a travel agent . Susan did a great job accommodating our allergies and large family. I would love to recommend Susan to anyone heading to Disney. We are straying at POP Century in 2 rooms. It was cheaper to stay in 2 rooms with our family of 6 than in a suite. Our rooms are next to each other but we will see how the week of tag team parentin...

Crafting again

The hubs and I are planning a Disney trip for the kids. We are super excited. I thought it would be nice to have a few Disney themed outfits for our first trip. I found the kids some Mickey shirts for $4.00 on clearance at Meijer. STEAL! I then scoured the internet for some crafty ideas and that's when I found  the  freezer paper stencil idea. Now you can google freezer paper stencil and get A LOT of tutorials/videos/blogs. Here's what I did just in case you don't feel like weeding through the plethora of tutorials. I went braved took my own life into my hands and went to Wal-mart to find some CHEAP t-shirts. I got everyone a $3 shirt. I found black metallic fabric paint (Tulip brand),some sponge brushes, and freezer paper. I decided on the design I wanted and went with the simple Mickey silhouette and printed it from my computer. I decided on some different sizes for all the kids. The websites suggested using exacto knives but that would not probably be a safe ...

my favorite time of the night

As a mom of 4 you might think that my favorite time of the night is bedtime. Well, your right when we are at home, but when we are at the beach its just after dinner. Its cooled off from the day, no one is there and its just the roar of the waves. That my friends is my favorite time. Walking on the beach, pant legs wet from rogue waves, a cool breeze, sun slowly setting. Here's just a few pictures from my favorite time. a lonley fish washed up onto the beach and he caught it with his own 2   hands fingers

family vacation

We had a wonderful vacation. We really set the bar high at the location. LOVE did you know I vacation with my in laws and my parents...and everyone lives!

sand castles

We took the older kids out to the beach on the day before we left. It was the best day. Sunny, warm, beautiful. The hubs also L.O.V.E.S to build sand castles. He has the kids "help" by bringing him water to wet the sand. Its mostly his way of wearing them out. 1267 times back and forth to the ocean sure does a good job wearing them daddy made this...the kids just brought him the water

the aquarium

We had to go somewhere, it was POURING rain. Tropical Storm Andrea had decided to come in the night before and continue throughout the day. And people let me tell being cooped up with 9 other people in the same house and even though you may love all of them it wasn't going to be pretty.  So we headed to Manteo to go to the aquarium. It was touch and go getting there. On several occasions the cars in front of us were being swallowed by the standing water. By the time we left the sun was out and the only reminders of TS ANDREA were the high winds. This was an interactive save the turtle activity....squeezing his stuffed turtle before putting it back into the "sea".  They had to examine them, give them meds, and rehab them before putting them in the sea. CUTE not going to touch them...NO ONE IS GOING TO DO IT a shark and bubby ellie is there....I promise wow...this one didn't get any better jesus left the aquarium......
