She's here!!!!!

Well, the littlest one finally made an appearance. A little girl!  Labor went fast, mama and baby are healthy, were home and the siblings ADORE her! More to come later!

Waffle maker sandwiches...totally stolen from Rachel Ray

WHAT?? Waffle sandwiches? Totally weird?! Yes....my kids love make your own sandwich night so I thought I'd throw a little twist on it tonight. Rachel Ray's recipe is the basic one I am going to use and then I am going to let my kids add their own toppings. She's also got a pizza waffle I'd like to try too....mmmm 4 eggs 1/2 cup milk salt/pepper 1 tsp of mustard topping choices: cooked bacon ham slices (left over and frozen from Easter) cheese (I have provolone, cheddar and mozzerella) tomato lettuce (to add after its cooked) Preheat waffle maker. Mix eggs, milk, salt/pepper and mustard together. Take 2 slices of bread and add choice of meat/cheese. Dip sandwich into egg mixture. Place on waffle maker and cook until golden brown.

Missing the bus

Child #1 likes to take her time in the morning. She is a bit poky. I've tried to not NAG her the whole time giving her time to figure out her own time management. BUT I've always said if she missed the bus because she was dawdling she would have to clean toilets. I thought that was a pretty impactful punishment for a 6 year old. Well yesterday I had to follow through with my threat. YEP, she missed the bus. When it was time to leave for the bus she got in the van (yes I drive 4 houses down when I have somewhere to go like Bible study but most days we walk). We were 2 minutes early. When I saw the bus around the corner and told her to hop  out, she flipped out "WHERE'S MY BACKPACK???"  She left it by the door at home. There was no way I was running back home to get it all preggers. I told her she could go to school without it and just buy her lunch. "NOOOOO!" So she missed the bus. I was going to be late to my activity. She needed to go to school. Sh...

Wait

On every corner in our small city there seems to be a drive through bank or coffee place. Even a "quick serve" Mediterranean restaurant verses the drive through burger place  near us. We don't slow down for much these days. We want to know. We want 21 channels of news and weather on our TV. We want to be in control of all our surroundings.Never have I been more frustrated with our impatient-instant gratification-drive thru society than through this pregnancy. I am 39 weeks and 1 day. I don't know the sex of our baby. I know can you believe it. Its so unheard of these days.  I have heard more in the last weeks questioning why my doctor doesn't check one more time to tell us what the baby is...or why isn't the Dr going to induce you?  Even my children ask my belly "what are you baby? when are you coming to meet us baby?" Innocent impatient questions on their part. Recognition of our impatient pull our selves up from our bootstraps society for ...

Simple Woman's Daybook

outside my window...sunshine and a cool spring morning! I am thinking...about names for baby #4....what goes with the family middle names we want?? so many questions! I am thankful...children who slept in until 7 am this morning. Its been a rough few mornings when they all wake up around 6:30. From the kitchen...who knows! I am not into cooking much these days! I am wearing...a purple maternity t-shirt and jeans and some shiny  black ballet flats. I am wondering...what is the gender of this baby. The anticipation is killing me. I am blessed...to have a supportive hubs. He had to cut my toenails the other day because I can't reach them. I am hearing...PBS From around the house...a toy-nado A favorite thing...dinner with my husband and having a quiet conversation while the kids slept This week...a Dr's appointment, Bible study, leader's council, and not much else. A verse... Romans 12:2 "Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be...

The B.I.B.L.E yes that's the book for me....

Remember the post about the NOTE that I wrote last month....well I mentioned at the end that child #1 wanted a BIBLE. So finally during her spring break we went to the Christian book store so that she could choose her first REAL Bible. She looked up and down the children's Bible aisle. And do you know what she chose? A real non-kiddy NIV Bible. Nothing about being God's little princess or a children's study this was a honest to goodness small print Bible. Not fluff just God's word. Yes its pink and sparkly on the outside but on the inside its all God's word. She was so excited to get into it. It take us 15 minutes to get home from the store and she was scouring her Bible to find her verse she was memorizing at church. 2 Thess 3:13 "Never tire of doing what's right."  Since then she's looked up verses she's memorized from CBS, church and dance class. She doesn't want to just take our word that this is what God's word says. She wan...

bus stop

The bus stop is only 4 houses away. Our school district prefers for all Kindergarten and 1st grade parents to be at the stop for drop off and pick up. And as a mother hen that's how I like it too.  Its also the black hole of misbehavior. WHY?? I have to take the little kids down twice a day and some days it takes everything I have not to cry. I have just a few rules: no running up the neighbors drive way and making their dogs bark and no running in others yards. SIMPLE RIGHT? WRONG! It seems no matter how much I remind them that's just what they want to do. If I take them down in the stroller they seem to do scream "I want out!" or kick and hit each other. The bus stop seems to bring out the worst in my kids. I want to yell to my neighbors their not that bad usually. They listen MOST of the time. People their 2 &3 years old...they are just trying out their boundaries EVERY day. By the time the 5-10 minute trip (depending how late the bus is) is over, I am wo...
