You can't ignore it

A nagging thought. Your heart beats a little faster. You can't ignore it. You don't know where it came from or why, BUT you know who. It's the urging of the Holy Spirit. It doesn't always make sense to you  or it isn't always convenient. That was last Thursday for me. Well, lets be honest I may have been ignoring that voice for a few days. I had a plan and THIS was not working into the plan. Besides do you know how crazy Thursday's are for me? They are super busy and I barely make it out of the door alive or in one piece. I am on my way to Bible study as soon as I get the older two on the bus. I usually throw dinner in the crock pot (if I don't forget) and I have to make lunches for the littles to eat in the car ride home. I mean it is CRAZY! I was making bean soup and forgot to soak the beans the night before. This urging was just going to have to be ignored. But that would be disobedient. So I thought if I get all this stuff done I could possible do...

the beauty of praying friends

I have been meaning to write this for sometime. I wanted to share about the month that I was quiet. That time was trying for our family. I was praying but sometimes I felt I didn't have the words or even know what to say. That's where my community of amazing friends came into play. It was a comfort knowing that these girls were down on their knees in my stead praying the words that I couldn't come up with. There were emails, texts and phone calls frequently. I kept these girls in the loop. Sometimes I may have been obnoxious. This ladies encouraged me through scripture and conversations. Words of wisdom and a few "suck it up buttercup" conversations had to happen when I was having a particular tantrum. Things changed rapidly. We were at the mercy of interviewers. Sure things were doors that closed pretty quickly so that left us with dependence on God and the prayers of our friends. The hubs was applying for jobs 12 hours a day.  He'd say "what do you...

traveling with Jesus...meeting the Indians

Today was the first day of  CBS training. Jesus went along for the ride and met a  new friend. You see  my friend Malia  has a blog. She decided to take on her own traveling item in her own special way.  You will have to go and follow up on all the wonderful adventures the Indians have had this summer! Getting ready to go! enjoying some coffee meeting the Indians stuck in traffic trying to get home in time to pick up #2 from the bus stop Catch up on all the TJ posts here!

the naz, Bob & Larry, and Jesus

Today the kids and I had an opportunity to go back to the college the hubs and I graduated from a very long time ago. The kids had never been. Shame on us its only 45 minutes away. The campus radio station was  holding a viewing of the newest Veggie Tales movie: MacLarry and the Stinky Cheese Battle. How could we resist? We arrived a  little early so that I could take them to a few places on campus like Pioneer Hall where I lived and I showed them the library, cafeteria  and of course the occasional flicker! The movie was in the auditorium so we also made a stop into chapel. OH how I missed the beauty of chapel. Boy did  they have so many questions. Silly ones like what did I eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner? And did I really sleep in that building? What kind of things did I study? Did I have any outside playtime? We were meeting a college friend and her son. Oh to be back on campus with Kiana. I knew I was playing with fire. The movie was during nap time. T...

cheerio gang: debbie

Ever have those people in your life that you are proud to know. Or someone who truly cares about you or your children. Debbie and I have only known each other for a short time, but she has spent more time pouring into my life and the life of my kids than people I have known for decades. She snuggles and cares for my kids. She loves on them and spoils them. Sometimes they call her Miss Debbie, but often they just call her crazy Debbie. They make pictures for her. Its a good relationship. She and I work closely in a ministry called CBS. She's the coordinator and I am the assistant. We joke that we share a brain. She's the more friendlier part of the brain, for sure. That's her gift and that's what everyone loves about her. Recently, she had surgery on her back. I told my kids about it and they were eager to pray for her that morning. It was a good opportunity to teach them about thinking about others and bringing our requests to God. Requests that weren't about...

Cake pop fail #2

Child #1 really wanted a cake pop maker for Christmas. So my mom found her the silicone molds "As seen on TV" kind. I thought it would be a great thing to do when her friend was over the other day, but remember this . Yep, cake pop fail! The pop mold has only 8 holes. and about a tsp of batter in each hole and 15 minutes to cook and another 15 to cool before you can pop them out....ahhhhhh! its a long time and I still haven't used up all the batter! I gave the children melted chocolate chips and sprinkles and this is what happened. No words just pictures!

Catching up

FOUR YEARS... That's how long it was since I had seen my friend, K. Sadly, we only live 40 minutes apart and it had been 4 years. Life got in the way. She's teaching full-time and I was working full-time. She has a husband, house, child, family, and church life to keep her busy. I  have those same things but this should not be a good excuse. We went to college together and had many of the same classes. We even lived together for 2 years off campus in this tiny basement apartment with 2 other girls. We survived the dungeon. She was a bridesmaid in my wedding. Yet, all that history and we let 4 years go by with only Christmas cards and birth announcements being exchanged. But the other day I emailed her and said I really wanted to catch up. We met at a restaurant in the middle at 11:30. We talked and laughed. We shared chocolate chip cookies. We went shopping. I got home around 4 pm. She and I had a lot of catching up to do. I was rejuvenated. TIME WITH A ...
