Living Life One Cheerio at a Time

Dinner time is ALWAYS crazy with 4 kids. We appreciate all the studies emphasizing the importance of family meals. We rarely miss a meal together, but sometimes it's so crazy that I don't think anyone connected. One crazy night I said let's go around and tell each other our high of the day and the low.  To be honest I was hoping to just eat without having to break up the nitpicking. I, of course, was met with some resistance. No one knew what to say.  Some wanted to say was my low was when so and so did this. So we needed to establish rules. This was not a tattling session and it had to directly affect you. Ahhh... Undivided attention... The spotlight ... They caught on to that. That night went as expected ...mediocre.  BUT the next night they wanted to do it again and the night after that and now it's a month or Sochi in and that can't wait. Even littlest one joins in. " There's no words to describe how I feel about this box. Inside is pure joy and gratitude disguised as cupcakes. A neighbor brought them to us to thank my 2 older girls. A neighbor we wave at but don't chat with on a regular basis. A neighbor who honestly I can't remember her name. But somehow that doesn't stop my kids from being neighborly.   You see her grandson began living with her and began riding the same bus. The first day he got on  #2 let him get in front of her in line making herself last. AND SHE NEVER LIKES TO BE LAST! Today is the 10th and the challenge is finding beauty in the ordinary for 10 hours. Well I always like to make up a few of my own rules and so I added a few more pictures. It's moments like this when you're so proud. Proud of your child's boldness. Today littlest one and I ran into kohl's to grab a few things. We were sprinting through the store and I even stopped to try on some jeans. She was an absolute trooper. She's at the stage where she doesn't want a stroller or to hold mom's hand. So with hands in her pockets she trailed just a few steps behind me. As we came up to the register we had to wait in line. The lady directing traffic began a conversation with us. She asked how old little one was? 2 1/2 I told her. As I scooted up for my turn the traffic director noticed littlest ones shoes were untied. For the umpteenth time that trip. She leaned down to tie it for her and I hear little one talking then loudly and boldly "Jesus birthday!"  The lady looked at me puzzled and confused. I smiled and my heart melted. It's been over 5 years since I joined CBS. I had been mildly connected to the organization but because I was working full time it wasn't an option.  I had a 3 yr old and a 8 mo old and I was pregnant with little man. I literally stopped working on a Friday and by the next Thursday I was in a class. I really joined for adult conversation  I had no idea that I would gain a  passion for studying God's word or that I desperately needed that time in his WORD! It was weird because for the first time in 10 yrs I had not been in a leadership position. It was nice too. I was able just to focus on our family and seeking who I was in God's family. I had been apart of several religious organizations and had found that my candle had been snuffed out. This was God refilling me and relighting my candle. Finding beauty in the ordinary for 10 hours on the 10th of every month. Sounds easy but somedays life's too busy or ugly but maybe that's the point to slow down if only for a moment and seek the beauty!  So here are my 10 moments of beauty....amidst the moments of ugliness that I exhibited throughout the day. I know its the 10th and I really should write more than just a few pictures here and there....I can't even tell you how busy its been here in Cheerio Land, but that's no excuse! Here's this month's 10 on 10! Today was a very busy day! I started the day taking my 2 older kids to the bus stop and 2 neighbor kids. I love my Bus stop mom job! I drove straight to our first day of CBS for this year. Love these ladies. And in between preschool drop off/pick up and naps I found time to fix dinner.  I ended the day taking my oldest to ballet.  A full day but a beautiful day!
