Isaiah 55:8-9

Has God ever asked you to do something out of your comfort zone? Have you ever said Yes to Him and that seemingly crazy idea?   Sometime in the late fall I was praying for my husband Mark. I was praying that the Holy Spirit would move in his type A personality. I was praying that God would shake his introverted self in a radical way. Around November 1 st our new pastor moved to town. After church that day I casually said “When his family moves up in January we should have them over.” Mark said how about just having Don over on Friday? I dreaded it. Friday’s are my big draining days. But I said ok. I FB messaged Don and invited him to dinner. He said yes to 2 strangers and 4 kids .Friday came and it was great. We had lots of things to talk about…until we came to ask him where he was staying. IT was the scary movie motel. This place is rough….gulp! He needed to stay there until he could move his wife and kids up after Christmas. He also needed to sell his house to be a...

praying for

I've been wanting to write this post for sometime but just didn't have the right words, but I'll try anyways. My life is so cluttered right now. I hate to admit it but sometimes I forget  to pray or wait on God. Right now I am doing just that. Relearning to trust, pray and wait on God. I have something on my heart. I began feeling a nudge that God was leading. I prayed, haphazardly. In my feebleness I felt God said yes. When I ran it by the hubs he shot this down. But the urge was still there I couldn't let it go. There is a tension between being an obedient wife and an obedient daughter of the KING. So now I knew it was time to pull out the Hezekiah prayer (2 kings 14-19). This isn't some magic prayer or a vending machine prayer. I think it forces me to slow down and and adjust my focus. I know 2 Kings? Mostly 1 & 2 Kings says , "...and they did evil in the eyes of the Lord. " But there's this one prayer. Hezakiah took the letter that said ...

Catching up!

I apologize for being MIA recently. This has been an interesting year for our family. My husband lost his job in September. That was the day our life turned upside down and you can read about the day he lost his job  here. But God was teaching us to trust, obey and PRAY. You can read about that journey at this post .. I mean its been 9 months you may need to catch up!   The hubs loves his job. We knew taking this job we may have to make some cut backs and some sacrifices but it was going to be worth it for the opportunity and peace. I keep telling him I really didn't like him the last few years of his last job and I like him so much better now. Its a good change!   We explained to the kids early on that there might be a move happening. They had a million question. And at some point I told them that there was going to have to be more questions than answers.  As a family we were going to trust that God would let us know what we were going to do and how it wa...

Girl's night out vs Boy's night out

This week was one of those weeks where it was more  of a tag team effort. We had oil changes, parent teacher conferences, I had a dinner with my CBS sisters and we had dad's night at preschool. It was very busy but a lot of fun. This year at preschool it is a western theme, so the boys worked hard at wrangling up some cows and having fun... Little man's teacher handed me this picture, sighed and rolled her eyes. I think she felt pity for me...this pic made me love my husband EVEN more. Now DQ sounded like a GREAT idea at the beginning of the week when it was 60* and sunny, but by the time Wednesday came around it was a bit chilly. That maybe an understating it a bit...it was 25* and snowing. But they had coupons from Valentine's Day that were about to expire...so we went and guess what it wasn't busy! Psalm 91:1-2 " He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, 'He ...

the beauty of praying friends

I have been meaning to write this for sometime. I wanted to share about the month that I was quiet. That time was trying for our family. I was praying but sometimes I felt I didn't have the words or even know what to say. That's where my community of amazing friends came into play. It was a comfort knowing that these girls were down on their knees in my stead praying the words that I couldn't come up with. There were emails, texts and phone calls frequently. I kept these girls in the loop. Sometimes I may have been obnoxious. This ladies encouraged me through scripture and conversations. Words of wisdom and a few "suck it up buttercup" conversations had to happen when I was having a particular tantrum. Things changed rapidly. We were at the mercy of interviewers. Sure things were doors that closed pretty quickly so that left us with dependence on God and the prayers of our friends. The hubs was applying for jobs 12 hours a day.  He'd say "what do you...

a disrupted 10 on 10

Tuesday was 10 on 10. I started out really strong...I mean I remembered before noon! But shortly after 9 am my husband called me from work. He told me he was no longer employed and would be home soon. GULP! My 10 on 10 got a little sidetracked but this is the story! I called a good friend and she prayed immediately on the phone. We cried and laughed. I had gotten all the emotion out of my system because I didn't know what state he would be when he came home. I wanted to be strong not a blubbering mess. Surprisingly he was in great spirits. You see he had been wanting to leave for sometime now. In fact, he had thought about it during the summer...then it was in the fall...then after the new year. All the delays had great excuses. Yet, they were still excuses. Maybe this is God' way of moving the hubs on to a new adventure a little faster. The hubs is a bit of a private man and usually plays his cards close to his chest. He doesn't reveal much and is very...

sand castles

We took the older kids out to the beach on the day before we left. It was the best day. Sunny, warm, beautiful. The hubs also L.O.V.E.S to build sand castles. He has the kids "help" by bringing him water to wet the sand. Its mostly his way of wearing them out. 1267 times back and forth to the ocean sure does a good job wearing them daddy made this...the kids just brought him the water

DUH?!

Do you ever have those moments where you can't find something important. Recently, during the reconstruction phase, the hubs couldn't find the screws to the desk. The very large desk that needed special screws. I mean this thing was taking up lots of floor space and causing a major traffic blockage in the clean up of the den process. He searched in drawers. He serarched in boxes. He slammed doors and muttered things. He was at a loss. He could not find them. He began searching on Monday. And finally on Friday afternoon (somewhere between 12-2) during naptime I prayed for clarity in locating those stinking screws. DUH, right. Guess what? 24 hours later. Saturday around 2. HE. FOUND. THEM. He said, "I just remembered." WHAT? CLARITY ANYONE? I couldn't leave it there. I had to remember to praise God in this situation. It is in my nature to forget and get caught up in the Yea! you found them. How did you  do that? But it was clearly God who help l...
