Even when you think you stink...

It's been over 5 years since I joined CBS. I had been mildly connected to the organization but because I was working full time it wasn't an option.  I had a 3 yr old and a 8 mo old and I was pregnant with little man. I literally stopped working on a Friday and by the next Thursday I was in a class. I really joined for adult conversation  I had no idea that I would gain a  passion for studying God's word or that I desperately needed that time in his WORD! It was weird because for the first time in 10 yrs I had not been in a leadership position. It was nice too. I was able just to focus on our family and seeking who I was in God's family. I had been apart of several religious organizations and had found that my candle had been snuffed out. This was God refilling me and relighting my candle. I ,of course ,didn't stay on the outskirts for very long. God had other plans for me. I was asked to join leadership and I was able to accept a position in the adult secti...

Babylon

We are currently studying Daniel at our Bible study. Its been great really digging our teeth into all those "children's stories." Recently our Teaching Director said,  "you may be in Babylon but you don't have to be of Babylon." It's taken me a couple of weeks to really get a hold of what that means. But God made it clear, very clear. I have that one thing I keep taking back from God. I so badly want to be a part of Babylon and God lovingly says no you will not be a part of this. It could not have been more clear. Within 12 hours of me agreeing to be apart of Babylon, the door was firmly closed. Shut, barred, locked, glued. CLOSED! He tells me I can't be an effective witness when knee deep in Babylon type activities. He wants me set apart. He wants me to be in Babylon but not of Babylon. Okay I get it....for now. I am sure that God will have to remind again.

cheerio gang: debbie

Ever have those people in your life that you are proud to know. Or someone who truly cares about you or your children. Debbie and I have only known each other for a short time, but she has spent more time pouring into my life and the life of my kids than people I have known for decades. She snuggles and cares for my kids. She loves on them and spoils them. Sometimes they call her Miss Debbie, but often they just call her crazy Debbie. They make pictures for her. Its a good relationship. She and I work closely in a ministry called CBS. She's the coordinator and I am the assistant. We joke that we share a brain. She's the more friendlier part of the brain, for sure. That's her gift and that's what everyone loves about her. Recently, she had surgery on her back. I told my kids about it and they were eager to pray for her that morning. It was a good opportunity to teach them about thinking about others and bringing our requests to God. Requests that weren't about...

when on the mountain

I recently gave a devotion at CBS. I titled it "when there is fog on the mountain, slow down and be alert" I found that sign when I was driving through the VA mountains last summer. It really stuck with me. Over the last few months God led me to several verses. I will hope that when you are in the fog of life that you can refer to these verses. WHO  IS GOD? Psalm 46:10, Psalm 119:105, Psalm 59:16, Psalm 62:6, Proverbs 18:10, Exodus 2:14   WHAT DOES HE PROMISE? Psalm 73:26, Psalm 27:11, 2 Thessalonians 3:16, Psalm 62:1, Isaiah 55:8   WHAT AM I TO DO DURING THE FOG? Psalm 136:1, Ephesians 6:18, Colossians 3:2, Colossians 4:2, Psalm 63:1, Deuteronomy 6:5, Nehemiah 9:5b
