a confession

So I've noticed that when I fill in the "what am I wearing" line on my simple woman's day book  I often   always put sweat pants. Patten? yes, sigh! Okay, so here's my confession. I live in my {capri} sweatpants. I mean I go to bed in them and I may or may not continue to wear them for that day or several days. I have several pairs. They are so comfortable when I am chasing my little ones. Especially when I have no place to go. But I may or may not wear them in public. My girls disapprove. They are girly to a fault. Layers of jewelry and tiaras. Skirts or dresses only. The spinney-er the better. In fact if it doesn't  pass the  spinney test it can't be worn. I have to make my 6 year old wear pants on gym days. This summer they were completely appalled that I didn't own more skirts. I did purchase a cute skirt at Marshall's this summer on the cheaps. It cute and spinney. They approve. It brings my skirt total up to TWO! In fact one time I was ...

1 st day of 1st grade

By 8:30 am she had almsot been up 3 hours. She was soooo excited! First in line and ready to go! There she goes!

woe is me....

I feeling overwhelmed. All I want to do  is keep my little ones safe but I don't know if I can keep up at this pace. My little guy was just tested and he has more allergies to items than we thought. Along with strawberries, chocolate, milk, tomatoes and peanuts our new list includes wheat, corn, oak, molds, and grass. For most of his reactions his eczema flairs up on his arms and legs. When he eats peanuts his body becomes one whole blister. He itches. He cries. Sometimes his stomach is so upset that he can't sleep...for days. Its not a pleasant time. Pooh bear fortunately only has a dairy allergy. She just doesn't sleep and spends alot of time on the potty. The hardest part {besides cooking 2-3 different versions of meals at each meal} is that he doesn't understand why he can't have some of the items the girls or mommy and daddy are having. Things he liked up until yesterday. Things we gave him unknowingly. I wrote several emails this week. I had to let the...

A new recipe

This recipe has been a favorite since my friend Kiana made this in collge. My daughter likes my friend Kristin's recipe and lovingly refers to it as "Kristin's chicken." 4 whole chicken breast (split and skinned) 8 bacon slices 1 can of cream of mushroom 1 cup of sour cream 1 cup fresh mushrooms 2 TBSP apple juice Preheat oven 300 degrees. Wrap slices of bacon around each breast. Arrange in a 9x13 pan. Mix soup, sour cream, mushrooms and apple juice. Pour over chicken. Bake uncovered for 2 hours. Oh and is it yummy!

TEN ON TEN

sometimes dragging it is faster than riding it lunch time~girls only! friends forever carrots from the garden Rebekah  is the genius behind 10 on 10. On the 10th of every month take 10 pictures in 10 hours. Find the beauty in your everyday life! Go ahead and take a look to see what others are doing too!

holding on to the blanket

So little man  has this blanket. Its lovingly referred to as "BANKET!!!" Its just a soft fleece with the ends tied, you know the kind, and very blue and boyish. Nothing special. To me but to my little 2 year old its the world {which again is funny because it has planets on it, I digress}. For a very long time maybe a year or so it went every where with him...the car, up and down the stairs, in every room. Picture Linus from peanuts. Little man just dragging this blanket holding the knotted ends. When he gets upset or is tired he rubs the knotted ends on his cheek/face//between his nose and his paci and he closes his eyes. FIND A HAPPY PLACE FIND A HAPPY PLACE! Now over the winter when little man had a bout the gross kinda sickies it was a very tricky situation-I need to wash it but he won't fall asleep with out it. I talked my MIL who made the first one that maybe having a backup one wouldn't be a bad idea. She found "Ka-chow" and "Mater" materia...

call the newspaper

"Mom, call the newspaper we are having ravioli soup!" Child #1 is so funny. She and her sister were planning a "picnic" dinner for me. Ravioli soup was on the menu. And she was proud. Sometimes that little girl just cracks me up!

Simple Woman's Daybook

Outside my window....cloudy skies and a wet ground I am thinking...about my husband who is stressed out at work I am thankful...some quiet time this morning From the kitchen...cereal this morning I am wearing...jean capris and a t-shirt. Oh and I got a shower before nap time! WOHOO! I am blessed...a helpful husband I am hearing...2 children still sleeping Around the house...school supplies being gathered and fall clothes being brought up from the basement I am pondering...what will our new school year be like. Child #1 is excited about going back to school Some of my favorite things...giggling with my kids. Having a pretend picnic with plastic forks and spoons and a table clothe and all the plastic fixings! For the rest of the week...Bible study and maybe a zoo trip A verse...Leviticus 26: 3, 12 " If you follow my decrees and are careful to obey my commands...I will walk among you and be your God, and you will be my people." You can do this too!

Meal plan

Okay so besides my regular menu I am going to throw a few make ahead meals in to the mix. My goal is to do some nap time cooking. I rearranged and "shopped" my deep freezer. I am thinking...I will probably not get to shower before nap time since all the kids were up by 6:45 am I am thankful for...a husband who helps around the house I am laughing...at my 3 year old who likes to dress {mismatched} and undress herself  SEVERAL times a day. RIGHT now she's wearing a coral floral skirt and a pink Mackinaw Island t-shirt. From my kitchen... blueberry muffins  for breakfast and some to freeze for the school year I am wearing...a college t-shirt that's12 years old and showing its age and capri sweatpants I am blessed...to have friends who I get along with and that our children love being together. facebook free

I have decided to take a break from face book. Just cold turkey. deactivate. I didn't play games and such but I was constantly checking to see who updated their status. I needed to take a break and focus on something else. I did use it to communicate to friends and family so maybe I'll go back...or maybe I won't. I am giving myself a 1 month break. I am going to be face book free for August.

YEA FOR ME I GET TO DO CHORES...

"YEA for me I get to do chores!" I know who actually thinks those words let alone says them out loud. My 3 year old. Typically her chores are real limited {pick up your toys, pull laundry out of the dryer} and aren't at all fun like sissy's {feeding the fish, putting away silverware, or sorting laundry} but today I let her sort her laundry basket into the piles I had already started. She loved it and well 95 percent of her clothes go into the pink/red/orange/purple pile anyway. Easy peasy! Got me thinking do I enter each activity i do with such enthusiasm...."Hooray I get to clean toilets!" I think not! Man I hate when I am called out by my kids to follow what God already has told me to do. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 "Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Jesus Christ." I can honestly say I have never been thankful for vacuuming or doing dishes or any of the other mundane ta...
