Plans averted

As I've said recently I'm praying over something. Although it feels like I'm in midst of a battle. A uphill climb that's NEVER ENDING! And I'm  tired, angry , hurt, confused , and did I say tired! So recently I had enough. I was going to have a confirmation. I was fired up! I had had this conversation in my head several different times and each time I'm in the right. But then something stopped me. The Holy Spirit guided me to some verses to avert my attitude. Philippians 2:6 "your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus. " Philippians 4:6 " do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. " Philippians 1:6 " being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. " Okay! Now I was frustrated that I wasn't going to get to find out if all those conversations in my ...

praying for

I've been wanting to write this post for sometime but just didn't have the right words, but I'll try anyways. My life is so cluttered right now. I hate to admit it but sometimes I forget  to pray or wait on God. Right now I am doing just that. Relearning to trust, pray and wait on God. I have something on my heart. I began feeling a nudge that God was leading. I prayed, haphazardly. In my feebleness I felt God said yes. When I ran it by the hubs he shot this down. But the urge was still there I couldn't let it go. There is a tension between being an obedient wife and an obedient daughter of the KING. So now I knew it was time to pull out the Hezekiah prayer (2 kings 14-19). This isn't some magic prayer or a vending machine prayer. I think it forces me to slow down and and adjust my focus. I know 2 Kings? Mostly 1 & 2 Kings says , "...and they did evil in the eyes of the Lord. " But there's this one prayer. Hezakiah took the letter that said ...

DUH?!

Do you ever have those moments where you can't find something important. Recently, during the reconstruction phase, the hubs couldn't find the screws to the desk. The very large desk that needed special screws. I mean this thing was taking up lots of floor space and causing a major traffic blockage in the clean up of the den process. He searched in drawers. He serarched in boxes. He slammed doors and muttered things. He was at a loss. He could not find them. He began searching on Monday. And finally on Friday afternoon (somewhere between 12-2) during naptime I prayed for clarity in locating those stinking screws. DUH, right. Guess what? 24 hours later. Saturday around 2. HE. FOUND. THEM. He said, "I just remembered." WHAT? CLARITY ANYONE? I couldn't leave it there. I had to remember to praise God in this situation. It is in my nature to forget and get caught up in the Yea! you found them. How did you  do that? But it was clearly God who help l...

a glimpse

This morning I told my kids that we needed to pray for "the far away mimi." She has a boo boo that the doctor is going to take care of  today. They were all eager. Then child #2 said "I will pray out loud." She prayed the sweetest little prayer asking her God to heal her mimi fast. I am not very comfortable praying out loud. I am getting better. I worry if I will sound okay. Will I mess up my words and sound foolish. Oh to have the faith of my little kids. I am so glad that even though I don't prefer to pray out loud I am teaching them to pray out loud.  Encouraging them and giving them opportunities to do so. What a glimpse of their future! I am glad for these glimpses especially when its been a trying day/week. I am glad for these glimpses as an encouragement to me to get out of my comfort zone and do what his word commands us to do. Psalm 3:4 "I call out to the Lord and he answers me from his holy mountain." Linking up to  captur...

Should be doings...

Yes, I had a list of should be doings...you know empty the dishwasher, refill the dishwasher with the dishes piling high in the sink, clean up the clutter, cook dinner...oh how I could go on. But there was sunshine. Here in the Midwest we haven't seen to much of it this winter. It may have only been 41 degrees BUT there was sunshine! So  when we got home from preschool we stayed outside. And we stayed outside for a good amount of time.  They didn't fight and they had fun. Even the baby was full of  joy watching her brother and sisters. Sometimes you have to put the should be doings list aside and let the kids enjoy the sunshine. God is good!  It was quite a blessing from God to feel his peace and grace for just a few sunshine filled moments. The amount of joy in my children's smiles and laughter. The amazing glimpse of what God is doing in their lives as I listen to them pray for their father's big meeting that d...

cheerio gang: debbie

Ever have those people in your life that you are proud to know. Or someone who truly cares about you or your children. Debbie and I have only known each other for a short time, but she has spent more time pouring into my life and the life of my kids than people I have known for decades. She snuggles and cares for my kids. She loves on them and spoils them. Sometimes they call her Miss Debbie, but often they just call her crazy Debbie. They make pictures for her. Its a good relationship. She and I work closely in a ministry called CBS. She's the coordinator and I am the assistant. We joke that we share a brain. She's the more friendlier part of the brain, for sure. That's her gift and that's what everyone loves about her. Recently, she had surgery on her back. I told my kids about it and they were eager to pray for her that morning. It was a good opportunity to teach them about thinking about others and bringing our requests to God. Requests that weren't about...

Her story...

All my other 3 babies were born early~5, 10 and 12 days so I anticipated having #4 about 2 weeks early. Well I was still pregnant at 38 weeks, 39 and even 40 weeks. I went to the doctor on my due date. Hoping that he would say that he would go ahead and induce me. I had progressively moved along  each week I saw him, but week 40 I had made no progress. In fact he gave me the news that if he induced me it would most likely result in an unnecessary C-section. It was Tuesday and he said he would like to see me again on Thursday for an ultrasound and a quick check. I made it out of the doctor's office with out any major hysterics but as soon as I got to the car and called the hubs it was a super duper meltdown. I was disappointed, frustrated, scared, tired and as many Eeyore adjectives you can stick on there....I was feeling it. I knew I had to trust in the Lord's sovereignty and I trusted the wisdom of my doctor. My doctor is strong in his faith. So I knew he was doing what...

I shouldn't be surprised

I shouldn't be surprised but I still was. Today was day 7. I prayed my prayer this morning over our issue. And this afternoon we had a small glimpse of hope given to us. God is so good! Stay tuned to the adventure.

prayer-the next 7 days

So God has been teaching a lot about praying this year. I've seen God work through prayer but haven't always been disciplined enough to be considered a "prayer warrior". I've been led to do some interesting things over the years. I was praying for a friend who was ill, so I prayed for her everytime I saw a CVS {there were 3} from work to home. It was an amazing time. This year God has urged me to write in a journal. Its been great time spending time with God. I've never been one to pray specific scripture to specific situations. God is working with me he has stuck me in the Psalms for the past 6 months. He has given me specific scripture for a friend who is battling cancer. He has given me scripture to read over the phone (and pray) with/to my husband who's stressing out over some things. It has been amazing time for me to listen to God' word. Recently we've been studying 2 Kings at CBS and we read about King Hezekiah (19:14.) The king got a letter...
