family vacation

We had a wonderful vacation. We really set the bar high at the location. LOVE did you know I vacation with my in laws and my parents...and everyone lives!

sand castles

We took the older kids out to the beach on the day before we left. It was the best day. Sunny, warm, beautiful. The hubs also L.O.V.E.S to build sand castles. He has the kids "help" by bringing him water to wet the sand. Its mostly his way of wearing them out. 1267 times back and forth to the ocean sure does a good job wearing them daddy made this...the kids just brought him the water

traveling with Jesus...pedro the parrot

Happy birthday

My first born is 8 today. It's hard to believe. She was just under 6  lbs at birth. She was a tiny peanut. But we fell in love with her the moment I laid eyes on her bald head.  Now she's not much bigger than a minute. Now she is a curly headed force of nature. She always has her head in a book or is dancing. She's a planner and then some. She is joy! Happy birthday child #1! I asked her what she wanted for her birthday meal (thinking just dinner) but she came back with donuts for breakfast, mac and cheese for lunch and pancakes for dinner. L.O.V.E it! But these weren't any run of the mill donuts, she wanted Schneider's Bakery donuts. ITS NOT JUST ANY BAKERY! Its  one of those places that opens up at 2 am. The place is no bigger than a  donut itself . It barely fits my family. Just imagine me bringing my gaggle of kids for a moment with its on street parking...just imagine. But I couldn't say no, they are so yummy! Its not only yummy but cheaper than ...

DUH?!

Do you ever have those moments where you can't find something important. Recently, during the reconstruction phase, the hubs couldn't find the screws to the desk. The very large desk that needed special screws. I mean this thing was taking up lots of floor space and causing a major traffic blockage in the clean up of the den process. He searched in drawers. He serarched in boxes. He slammed doors and muttered things. He was at a loss. He could not find them. He began searching on Monday. And finally on Friday afternoon (somewhere between 12-2) during naptime I prayed for clarity in locating those stinking screws. DUH, right. Guess what? 24 hours later. Saturday around 2. HE. FOUND. THEM. He said, "I just remembered." WHAT? CLARITY ANYONE? I couldn't leave it there. I had to remember to praise God in this situation. It is in my nature to forget and get caught up in the Yea! you found them. How did you  do that? But it was clearly God who help l...

the aquarium

We had to go somewhere, it was POURING rain. Tropical Storm Andrea had decided to come in the night before and continue throughout the day. And people let me tell being cooped up with 9 other people in the same house and even though you may love all of them it wasn't going to be pretty.  So we headed to Manteo to go to the aquarium. It was touch and go getting there. On several occasions the cars in front of us were being swallowed by the standing water. By the time we left the sun was out and the only reminders of TS ANDREA were the high winds. This was an interactive save the turtle activity....squeezing his stuffed turtle before putting it back into the "sea".  They had to examine them, give them meds, and rehab them before putting them in the sea. CUTE not going to touch them...NO ONE IS GOING TO DO IT a shark and bubby ellie is there....I promise wow...this one didn't get any better jesus left the aquarium......

Traveling with Jesus...yorktown

We decided to take a small detour and visit Yorktown. The kids liked it, especially #1 who had been reading about it in her  American Girl doll books.  can you find Jesus? there HE is! Go here to see some previous traveling with Jesus

summer reading

My kids L.O.V.E to read. I am so glad too! As soon as we got back from vacation we went to the library to sign up for the summer reading club. Child #1 is just devoring books faster than we can get to the library. Here's just a few pics of the kids enjoying reading.
